Deaughat is located at the confluence of Kali Gandaki and Trishuli rivers. Kali Gandaki brings down many fossils/ammonites (Shaligrams), some even with gold (inside) from Mt.Dhaulagiri-Damodar. It is believed that whoever takes a bath at this holy confluence is pardoned of the sins and ladies are blessed with beauty and happy married life. The Vasistha Cave and the crevasse, where Goddess Sita is supposed to have submerged herself to denounce the world, can be seen in Deaughat.Lord Rama and his brothers were educated here. Skhanda and Varaha Puranas have described this place as Hari Har Khetra (the place of Lord Shiva and Vishnu). The exciting but safe Deaughat suspension bridge, the mountains, river banks and very dense forest here offer one of the best sights.
